Morning walk colour inspiration

I went for  a walk when the sun came out (seems to be a bit rare at the mo)....and saw these lovely views. These different combinations of colours have inspired me to include some of this in the painting I am working on.This is going to be the tonally darker part of the painting...to anchor it down. Now for the next bit...

Poison or ok?

A friend alerted me to this plant I was growing in my garden...I thought just a pretty wild flower....apparently hemlock! the stuff Socrates died of! I had no idea! but its colours are inspirational!

Water painting inspiration!

At the moment I am completely enthralled by water...and see this as huge inspiration for my paintings. (it is  a regular reoccurring theme in my work). Today we had a wonderful walk in Derbyshire in the sunshine and I saw these lovely streams...so many patterns, colours , shapes...wonderful inspiration! I am working on some painting about water ...one that feels nearly finished but not quite! Do have a look at some streaming water...it is amazing how much colour and pattern you can see...a mindful moment.

details of a painting

this is the result of some recent work in the studio...sometimes some of the details in a painting  are as interesting as the overall painting!

David Hockney, life and art.

I have just finished watching this film about David Hockney's life and his art.It is a fascinating insight into his life, inspiration and work, so if you have a bit of time here is the link. He is undoubtedly one of the most significant British living artists.
